Volume boost on Windows
I've recently hit a problem: after pushing up all mixer settings my headphones were still too quiet. The problem was that big that I wasn't able to watch Google I/O session videos and understand what the guys are saying if there was a conversation going on near my working place.
I've looked for software that would amplify all the sound going through windows prior hitting sound card or something similar - to no avail...
First solution would be - of course - buying an amplified speaker set (not possible; this is at work) or some amplifier for headphones.
The problem solved by accident. Yesterday I've connected another headphones with mic to front panel. BAM! They're loud like hell. Quick switch to my own headphones - too quiet. Switch my headphones from rear to front panel - loud!
As it appears, my Dell workstation has non-amplified output on rear panel and amplified output on front panel. If this info helps: soundcard is integrated Sound Max.
